Katie is nominated for the Emirates Women of The Year Award for Row For Freedom and continued afforts in Dubai to raise awareness about human trafficking through the 27 million campaign. We are so proud of her! Go Katie!

After spending nearly 10 years in the corporate world, Katie decided to focus her energy on other projects. While coaching gymnastics, Katie met a woman who was planning to row the Atlantic to raise awareness about human trafficking and Katie felt compelled to join the five woman crew for the gruelling challenge. The women completed the row, from the Canary Islands to Barbados, in 45 days, becoming the first and fastest women to row the ocean. “I was the only UAE crew member so it is my responsibility to spread the word in the region. There are 27 million reasons for me to be working on this project and each of those is a human life,” she says. Thanks to Katie’s continuing efforts the UAE government has set up the Combat Human Trafficking Committee and RowForFreedom. UAE’s Burn Room gym have also teamed up for community campaign called 27million.
